The Firm

Architectural Design + Consulting was founded in 1986 to provide short-term problem-solving to clients whose concerns ranged from single-family residences to accessible design, aging in place, lighting, interiors and landscape. These clients needed a fresh, simple, imaginative solution to problems that would otherwise have been solved laboriously and expensively and "in the same old way."

The approach worked so well that over time larger and longer-term projects were undertaken, while still offering short-term consultation. To keep the firm small, however, total commitment is given to a very few projects, always seeking solutions which more than satisfy the original criteria posed by the client, incorporate social and environmental values, and achieve a level of design excellence which gives equal pleasure to the handicapped and the able-bodied.
